A Multimode Fiber Optic Patch Cord refers to an optical cable with terminations connected at both ends to establish an active optical path. An optical fiber patch cord is structurally similar to coaxial cable but lacks a mesh shield. At its center lies a light-transmitting glass core. For multimode fiber patch cords, the core diameter ranges from 50/125μm to 65/125μm-approximately the thickness of a human hair. Single-mode fiber cores, by contrast, have a smaller diameter of 8μm to 10μm. The core is surrounded by a glass cladding with a lower refractive index than the core itself, ensuring light remains confined within the core during transmission.
