Product Description

Fanout Splitter comes with fan-out kits and terminated ends. It features low PDL low excess loss, low insertion loss. The fanout kit is a set of empty jackets designed to protect the fragile tight buffered strands of fiber cables that require individual termination without splicing any fiber pigtail or needing to mount any protective enclosure. It is normally an option with fiber distribution cable, or sometimes loose buffer or ribbon cable, because these types of optical fiber cables contain multiple strands that are designed for a permanent termination.

Fiber optic splitters, also referred to as optical splitter, or beam splitter, is an integrated wave guide optical power distribution device that can split an incident light beam into two or more light beams, and vice versa, containing multiple input and output ends. Optical splitter has played an important role in passive optical networks (like EPON, GPON, BPON, FTTX, FTTH, etc.) by allowing a single PON interface to be shared among many subscribers.

Types of Fanout PLC Splitter

01/

The bare fiber PLC splitter
The bare fiber splitter is the simplest and most commonly used fiber optical PLC splitter in FTTX projects. This type of PLC splitter has optical fibers at all ends. Therefore, network engineers can freely splice according to applications. At the same time, the bare fiber PLC splitter only takes up a small amount of space in the process of routing.

02/

The fiber optical PLC splitter of micro steel pipe type
A fiber optical PLC splitter with a PLC chip of micro steel pipe type looks like a bare fiber splitter. The main difference from the latter is that the fiber optical PLC splitter of micro steel pipe type uses a compact stainless steel tube package, which is usually terminated with an optical fiber connector.

03/

The fiber optical PLC splitter of tray type
The fiber optical PLC splitter of tray type uses a space-saving package to better manage cables. However, it uses an international 19-inch design and can be deployed on ODF for good cable management and signal transmission.

04/

The fiber optical PLC splitter of ABS box type
The fiber optical PLC splitter of ABS box type uses a plastic box to protect the splitter chip. The input fiber and the output fiber are on a layer of a light splitting waveguide made of the quartz substrate, which can provide easier and more flexible cabling.

05/

The fiber optical PLC splitter of LGX box type
The fiber optical PLC splitter of LGX box type looks like an MTP distribution box. It puts the entire fiber optical PLC splitter in a metal box to isolate the distribution fiber embedded on the panel from the input fiber of the fiber adapter.

06/

The fiber optical PLC splitter of the miniature cassette type
The fiber optical PLC splitter of miniature cassette type is currently widely used in FTTx projects. Especially when the FTTx network user's distribution space requirements are low, this type can provide quick installation, which is helpful for the project's rapid deployment.

Advantages of Fanout PLC Splitter

2x32 Splitter

1. Low Insertion Loss: PLC splitters have low insertion loss, making them suitable for applications where signal loss must be minimized.

2. Wide Operating Wavelength Range: They can operate over a wide range of wavelengths, including the commonly used 1310nm and 1550nm bands.

3.Compact Size: PLC splitters are compact and can accommodate a large number of split channels in a single device.

4.Different fan-out ratios and form factors

5.Easy integration into system racks or nodes

6.High reliability due to hermetically sealed construction

Selection Criteria

When selecting a fiber optic splitter for a specific application, several key factors should be considered:

Splitting Ratio

Determine the required splitting ratio based on the network architecture and the number of subscribers or end-users.

Insertion Loss

Evaluate the acceptable level of insertion loss to ensure that the signal quality meets the system requirements.

Polarization Sensitivity

Consider the polarization dependence of the splitter if the system operates with polarized light.

Environmental Conditions

Assess the operating environment, including temperature range, humidity, and mechanical constraints, to determine the suitability of the splitter type.

Cost

Compare the cost-effectiveness of PLC and FBT splitters based on the specific application requirements and budget constraints.

FAQ

Q: What are PLC optical splitters?

A: PLC splitters are based on planar lightwave circuits and photolithography technology. They offer the highest performance in terms of low loss, uniformity, and wide wavelength range.

Q: What are FBT optical splitters?

A: FBT splitters utilize fused biconical taper technology. They provide a more economical solution compared to PLC splitters but have higher loss and lower uniformity.

Q: What are the key differences between PLC and FBT splitters?

A: PLC splitters offer lower loss, higher uniformity, wider wavelength range, and smaller form factor. However, they are more expensive. FBT splitters are more flexible, available in more options, and offer a lower cost, though they have higher loss.

Q: When should PLC splitters be used?

A: PLC splitters should be used for applications requiring the highest performance, such as 5G networks, data centers, and dense FTTH deployments.

Q: When should FBT splitters be used?

A: FBT splitters can be used for most applications except those requiring the lowest possible power budget penalties. They are suitable for enterprise networks, campus networks, and medium-density FTTH networks.
