IP55 FTTH Optical Fiber Terminal Box
Optical Fiber Terminal Boxes (FTBs), like the GL-DW-2 model, are critical interfaces in FTTH networks, particularly for outdoor cabling connections. They serve to distribute and protect optical fiber links by acting as the termination point for the line-side fiber cable. Within the FTB, the incoming optical cable is secured, and its core fibers are then connected to fiber pigtails via fusion splicing. This box essentially functions as the optical equivalent of the MDF in telephone exchanges.
Internally, the terminal box houses splice cassettes which provide protection for the delicate fusion splices between the cable fibers and the pigtails. Beyond termination and splicing, the Optical Fiber Terminal Box provides essential functions: it safely stores any excess length of both the line-side optical cable and the outgoing pigtails, offers a secure environment for fiber organization, and serves as a point for rerouting optical fiber cables towards the fiber distribution frame.
