- Product Introduction
Indoor/Outdoor FTTH Flat Drop Fiber Optic Cable
The Outdoor Flat Drop Cable Single Mode Fiber Optic Cable is a Non-Armored, Uni-Tube optical cable with fibers placed in a loose buffer tube. The cable core is protected with jelly to prevent water intrusion and migration, and covered with a black polyethylene outer jacket. Two embedded FRP or metallic wires provide the desired tension strength. The cable consists of a central loose tube filled with an synthetic oil-based jelly that is non-nutritive to fungus, electrically non-conductive, homogeneous, and free from dirt and foreign matter, containing up to 12 optical fibers. Two Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) elements are longitudinally placed parallel to the tube, surrounded by an outer black PE sheath that is UV resistant.

The Fiber Cores of Flat Fiber Cable is 2-24Cores
Features for Flat Drop Fiber Cable:

The PBT loose tube material provides excellent hydrolysis resistance. The tube is filled with special ointment to protect the optical fiber. The Flat Drop Cable features an entirely non-metallic structure, making it lightweight, easy to lay, and providing superior resistance to electromagnetic interference and lightning effects. This Flat Drop Fiber Optic Cable offers advantages including corrosion resistance, UV protection, and environmental sustainability. Precise control of the fiber's excess length ensures the optical cable delivers excellent tensile performance and temperature characteristics.
Applications of Flat Drop Fiber Cable:

The Flat Drop Fiber Optic Cable serves as the end-point for household access. It is used overhead in agricultural networks and lightning-prone distribution areas, can also be applied to indoor and outdoor wiring, and is suitable for open areas. Primarily used in building pathways or as overhead drop cables, it can also be used in access networks and for outdoor-to-indoor drops.

FAQ:
What is FTTH (Fiber to the home) drop cable?
FTTH drop cable (Fiber to the home) typically features a black and white jacket, has a relatively small diameter, and offers good flexibility. Its cross-section is figure-8 shaped. The reinforcing member is located at the center of the two circles, and can use either metal or non-metal materials. The optical fiber is located at the geometric center of the figure-8 structure.
The fiber inside the cable is mostly G.657A2 small bending radius fiber, which can be installed with a bending radius of 20mm. It is suitable for installation through ducts or for aerial distribution (open wire runs).
The unique figure-8 structure of the drop cable enables quick and efficient termination in the field.

FTTH drop cable is a new type of fiber-optic cable. It is a butterfly-shaped cable. Because it is small in size and light in weight, it is ideal for Fiber to the Home applications. It can be cut according to the distance required at the site, thus improving construction efficiency.
FTTH fiber drop cables feature FRP, KFRP, metal, or non-metal strength members and are designed for high-capacity indoor/outdoor FTTH networks.
The drop cable, as an important part of the FTTH network, forms the final external link between the subscriber and the feeder cable. Choosing the right FTTH drop cable termination or interconnect solution will directly affect network reliability, operational flexibility, and the economics of FTTH deployment. Therefore, understanding the different termination options is crucial.
Positioned near the subscriber end, these cables connect the terminal of a distribution cable to a subscriber's premises. They are typically small-diameter, low fiber count cables with limited unsupported span lengths, which can be installed aerially, underground, or buried. As drop cable is used outdoors, it must provide a minimum pull strength of 1335 Newtons according to industry standards. Fiber optic drop cables are available in many different types. The three most commonly used fiber drop cables are flat drop cable, figure-8 aerial drop cable, and round drop cable.
