  • Product Introduction

FDB Fiber Box

The FDB Fiber Distribution Box is used for the connection and management of outdoor optical fiber communication links. It facilitates the connection of optical cables, fibers, and patch cords, offering a sleek appearance, user-friendly operation, and a long service life.

The wall-mounted FDB Fiber Box is designed for installation on building walls or pillars. It can be used for both indoor and outdoor applications. To accommodate product variety and customer requirements, we supply various types of terminal boxes to meet higher fiber capacity needs. These boxes not only connect cables and patch jumpers but can also house fiber splitters or other components as required.

Features:

• It is composed of a main body (housing), fiber-optic splice tray, and splitter fixation frame.
• It is divided into two parts: one connects to optical cables for fusion splicing between the optical cable and fiber pigtail, while the other connects to the patch cord.
• Combines fusion splicing, connection, fiber slack storage, and patch cord management into an integrated system.
• Surplus fibers can be coiled around two dedicated plastic rings, ensuring a bending radius greater than 40mm.
• The adapter panel secures adapters, which are compatible with various adapter types, enabling easy operation and preventing accidental damage to fibers.
• Cables can be routed into the FDB fiber box from the bottom, with the entry point protected by specialized rubber seals.

FDB Fiber Box Applications in LAN

1. Core Functionality:

• MAC Address Management: The FDB tracks MAC addresses and their associated ports on fiber-optic switches or media converters, enabling efficient frame forwarding.

• High-Speed Lookups: Fiber networks demand rapid FDB access due to high bandwidth and low latency, requiring optimized data structures (e.g., TCAM) for fast searches.

2. Network Efficiency:

• VLAN Support: Manages multiple VLANs by maintaining separate FDB tables, crucial for segmenting traffic in complex fiber LANs.

• Aging Mechanisms: Dynamically updates entries, aging out unused MAC addresses to keep the FDB relevant and efficient.

3. Security:

• MAC Flooding Mitigation: Implements port security measures (e.g., limiting MAC entries per port) to prevent denial-of-service attacks targeting FDB table limits.

• Static Entries: Secures critical devices by configuring static FDB entries, preventing unauthorized overwrites.

4. Protocol Integration:

• Spanning Tree Protocol (STP): Works with STP to avoid loops in fiber topologies, ensuring FDB entries align with the active network paths.

• Multicast Handling: Efficiently manages multicast traffic for applications like streaming, using IGMP snooping to update FDB entries dynamically.

5. Scalability and Performance:

• Large-Scale Networks: Supports extensive FDB tables to accommodate growing numbers of devices in expanding fiber LANs.

• Hardware Optimization: Utilizes high-performance hardware to maintain throughput and reduce latency in fiber environments.

6. Advanced Applications:

• Software-Defined Networking (SDN): Integrates with SDN controllers for dynamic FDB management across multiple Fiber Boxes, enabling adaptive traffic routing.

• Virtualization: Supports virtualized environments by synchronizing FDB entries across virtual switches and physical fiber infrastructure.

7. Deployment Scenarios:

• Fiber-to-the-Premises (FTTP): In ONTs/ONUs, the FDB bridges fiber backbones with local Ethernet devices, managing MAC addresses on the LAN side.

• Data Center Interconnects: Facilitates high-speed, low-latency connections between switches in data centers using fiber links.

8. Management and Monitoring:

• Configuration Tools: Allows setting aging timers, static entries, and VLAN mappings via CLI/web interfaces.

• Network Analytics: Monitors FDB activity to detect anomalies, optimize performance, and plan capacity.

9. Challenges:

• Convergence Speed: Ensures rapid FDB updates during topology changes to minimize downtime in redundant fiber networks.

• Resource Constraints: Balances FDB size with hardware limitations to avoid performance bottlenecks.
