What is a NID Fiber Enclosure?
Nov 19, 2025| In telecommunications, a Network Interface Device (NID)-also called a demarcation unit or service terminal-marks the boundary between the service provider's network (the local loop) and the customer's internal wiring. For outdoor telephone systems, NIDs also allow users to access the line directly, making it easier to test signal quality and check for issues in either the external connection or the home's wiring.
