MPO Fiber Patch Cords​​ are a high-density solution for fiber optic cable deployments. They commonly aggregate 12 strands of fiber into a single small form-factor connector and are used in data centers and telecom centers to minimize the space required for fiber optic interconnections. MPO cables are typically used with optical transceivers or in patch panels and cassette distribution boxes.

 

The most common MPO cables feature "B polarity," meaning the fibers are crossed over between the ends in a linear sequence: Pin 1 connects to Pin 12, Pin 2 to Pin 11, Pin 3 to Pin 10, and so on, up to Pin 12 connecting to Pin 1. Additionally, most MPO cables use female-type connectors, which simplifies connectivity between transceivers, panels, or cassettes.

 

MPO Fiber Patch Cords are equipped with Elite-grade MPO connectors, an improved version of MPO connectors that offer significantly lower insertion loss (IL) compared to standard variants. The OM4 cable is optimized for 25G/100G connectivity.
