FAT Fiber access terminal

Item: FAT Fiber access terminal Box GL-CTO16
The FAT (Fiber Access Terminal) is a component of FTTH networks. It connects feeder or distribution cables to a subscriber’s drop cable via a PLC splitter. This terminal box integrates fiber splicing, splitting, distribution, storage, and cable connection functions into a single, robust protective enclosure.

  • Product Introduction

16 Port FAT Fiber access terminal

The 16-port FTTH FAT Fiber Access Terminal serves as a termination point for feeder cables to connect with drop cables in FTTx communication networks. This fiber access terminal supports 16 drop cables with fast connectors as output ports. The Fast-Connector Box provides robust protection and simplified management for FTTx network deployment. The fiber terminal box can splice and connect optical fibers in manholes, on poles, or as a wall-mounted unit, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

Application of FAT Fiber Access Terminal:

1. Core Functions in ODN Networks
FAT Fiber access terminals manage feeder/drop cables for splicing, splitting, and storage, integrate splitters (1:8/1:16) for multi-user access, and adapt to urban, rural, or indoor deployments via wall/pole/aerial mounting.

2. Key Technical Features
Modern FATs feature plug-and-play FastConnect tech for tool-free drop cable connections, UV-resistant IP68-rated enclosures for harsh environments, and pre-spliced cables/unequal splitters (70:30) in ODN 3.0 to reduce field work and enhance reliability.

3. Deployment Scenarios
Fiber access terminals serve as secondary splitters (1:32) in pole/street installations for dense user areas, manage vertical/horizontal cabling in buildings to link ONTs, and support hybrid networks with mechanical connectors or pre-fusion splices for flexible terminations.

4. Advantages Over Traditional Solutions
FATs lower costs via reduced splicing labor and unequal splits, scale modularly to expand capacity without infrastructure upgrades, and minimize maintenance needs with sealed enclosures/pre-connectors to reduce faults and downtime.

5. Industry Trends
ODN 3.0 Fiber access terminals enable cascading multi-level splitters for hierarchical networks, while high-density ports and XGS-PON compatibility future-proof IoT/5G applications like smart cities and mobile backhaul.
